    I was in the first batch B.Sc. (Physics) during the years 1945 to 47. Before that B.A,degreee was given in the college and one of my uncles obtained it 1923.Both my father (1921) and my grand father (!898) got their degrees from the same Institution. The studens then were the very brillent and four of classmates got in to the IAS (the totasl recruitment for this was abut 59 for the whole country during that time) Kumbakonam was the intellectual capital of Tamil Nadu then. We had Dr Wade as the principal and excellent teachers all of them We were in Sakhaji Naicken street and Ramiar bridger was built at that time .Before that we used to in boats to cross the river. I can write a lot about those days but this is not the medium for that .I cherish those days .
