Homage paid on second anniversary of tragedy Kumbakonam: Thanjavur Collector C. Vijayaraj Kumar has said that a memorial to the 94 children, who died in the Krishna School fire accident at Kumbakonam in July 2004, will be constructed. On the second anniversary of the accident, he paid homage to the victims by placing a wreath at the school. He also unveiled their photos. He said that the State Government allotted Rs 60 lakh for the memorial and it would be constructed on a 10,000 sq ft plot near Palakarai.
